Description of HPLC Column
PFP is a phase primarily used in the separation of molecules bearing fluorine atoms, but also be in the separation of non-fluorous compounds such as Taxol and its derivatives. Because of its phenyl ring, it has a higher selectivity for aromatics containing molecules compared to the other alkyl-fluorinated phase. PFP can separate nitro-benzene isomers (para vs. ortho), which cannot be separated by traditional phenyl phase.
